What's new, and what's coming, at the Extra Points Library
We'd love your input!
Good morning!
We’ve been hard at work in the ol’ lab again, but before I share the latest updates to the Extra Points Library, I’d like to ask all of you a question.
What would you like to see next?
We’re nearing the end of our previous product roadmap. We’ve been spending time to try to make searching for documents faster and more reliable, by changing databases and cleaning some older code. We recently added a function that allows users to browse salary data for every single athletic department employee, and we’re adding more schools and more data to those tables every week.

As a company, we have a few ideas about where we’d like to spend our time and technical resources to add features or make life a little easier.
But we’d really like to hear from you. What else would you like to see from Extra Points Library?
Would you like to see a stripped down version of Library, but priced at a more consumer-friendly level? Would you like to see more sortable tables, like we’ve built using the data from the MFRS reports? Is there a type of document that is not currently listed that you think would be valuable?
All feedback is good feedback. If you’ve got thoughts on pricing, new features or improvements to existing features, please hit me up at [email protected], or leave a comment on this newsletter.
So what else is on the docket, short term?
A few areas of focus over the next few weeks include,
Adding more historical school budget data. We have the MFRS reports for almost every public school for FY24, and data for most schools for FY23 and FY22. I didn’t prioritize collecting data beyond that, but a few clients have suggested that more data would be helpful for research or editorial purposes. We’ve begun to upload large swaths of MFRS data going as far back as FY16. I don’t think we’ll go that far back for everybody, (unless enough people ask for it, I guess), but over the coming weeks, you’ll see multi-year data for most programs, large and small.
Better, more accurate Athletic Director data. Coaches typically get hired and fired around the same times each year, which makes bulk data collection a little easier. But there isn’t really an Athletic Director Carousel Season. ADs come and go 12 months out of the year. We’ve made an increased effort to try to obtain AD contracts faster.
For example, we have the contracts for new Utah State AD Cameron Walker, new Rutgers AD Keli Zinn, new Ohio AD Slade Lascheid, and various extensions and amendments across the country over the last two years.

Via Cameron Walker’s new Utah State contract, for folks who are interested in AD Incentive Pay and whatnot
Fixing missing contracts in BVB, WBB, Baseball and Softball.
Expanding our D-II vendor contract offerings.
We also have one big project that we’ve very close to being finished with, on the athletic apparel contract front, but I’ll save that for once we’re ready to deploy it.
Last note: Would you like a free EPL subscription? Help us expand the library
We file a lot of open records requests here at Extra Points HQ. We’ve gotten pretty good at it, and we’ve gotten to the point where we can file lots of requests quickly and efficiently.
But we’re still just one (small) company, with a few folks filing, managing and organizing these documents. Stuff slips through the cracks.
If you have documents you’re willing to share with us that we don’t have, like MFRS reports, coach contracts, vendor deals, etc…we’re more than happy to either discount EPL access, or straight up give you a free subscription. Many hands make light work, especially if those hands are in states that have pesky in-state residency requirements for FOIAs.
Drop me a line at [email protected], and let’s talk.
Enjoy EPL! We’ll be back soon with more updates.
